  • Welcome to the blog for Katy Lunsford Photography. You're probably here because you're getting married, love weddings, love photography, or all of the above. That's good, because they are my favourite things too - especially if you add gorgeous and vintage to the mix. I hope you'll stay a while, have a look around and feel free to comment or two :) If you’re a bride-to-be (or groom-to-be!), and you like what you see, let’s get together sometime for a glass of wine to chat a little more…

Wes & Becs | Shortflatt Tower Tipi Wedding

Wes and Becs’ wedding was nothing short of epic. I’m not sure I have ever seen so much creativity in one place. And rather unusually, the creative force behind this wedding was the very talented groom :) Wes is a graphic designer and had poured his heart and soul into designing a beautiful and unique wedding full of creative details. This wedding doesn’t just have a colour scheme and some general pretty, it has a brand! (and a very cute logo to boot!) What an eye for detail – Wes thought of everything! Bird-shaped pastry pie-tops, personalised flags and badges, candles in birdcages, vintage books, aprons for the waiting staff… the colour-scheme and bird theme were carried through to every last detail. As if that wasn’t enough, the groomsmen wore vintage Liberty-print ties and tan brogues, the outdoor ceremony came complete with a doorway and fireplace and the reception took place in Papakata tipis… All at the most beautiful venue: Shortflatt Tower in Northumberland. Becs looked pretty darn gorgeous in her lace fishtail Benjamin Roberts dress, and there were five adorable flower girls, who spent a lot of time running and twirling in their pretty dresses. Wes and Becs are two of the loveliest people you could meet, and are a lot of fun to spend time with, and to photograph – even being willing to don wellies and wade through ankle-deep mud in field of annoyed-looking bulls for the sake of a beautiful photo :) The day was filled with so much love and happiness and fun and creativity. Words can’t do it justice, so I’ll leave you to look through the few (ahem!) photos…

Aren’t those flowers just fabulous? I love all the gorgeous vibrant colours. And as for the cute pink shoes… amazing!

Even though the forecast was a little dubious, with all the effort Wes had gone to with the door and the fireplace, there was no way this wedding wasn’t going to take place outside!

I absolutely love all the vintage liberty print ties that Wes sourced for the groomsmen. Along with the mismatched socks and tan brogues!

I love that my brides don’t think twice about donning wellies with their wedding dresses…

…because I had spotted a tree, in a field, with long golden grass ;)

I don’t think I have ever seen quite such a consistently packed dance-floor! Wes & Becs’ families knew how to move!

Just. Incredible!

Thanks Wes & Becs for trusting us to capture your special day, and for providing so much pretty to photograph! We had an amazing day and it was such a privilege to a part of your fabulous wedding! We wish you a lifetime of happiness and fun together.

Published! | Abi & Ajay’s Weddings in You & Your Wedding

Delighted to have Abi & Ajay’s double wedding featured in top glossy wedding mag, You and Your Wedding! Abi & Ajay had two weddings: a colourful traditional Indian wedding and a chic and stylish winter wedding at Rookery Hall. And it snowed! (Click on the links to see the full posts) Having my work published in a national wedding magazine is such an honour, so a big thank you to the team at You and Your Wedding for featuring this wedding, and also to Abi & Ajay for having fabulous weddings and inviting me to capture them. I love my job :)

Silver Sixpence in her Shoe ‘Blush’ Collection | Styled Shoot

Claire Pettibone Constance and Juliet Veil

On a rare sunny summer’s day, two pretty girls went dancing barefoot around a vineyard on the side of a hill, wearing dreamy dresses made with the most delicate of laces and tulles. In their hair they wore oh-so-pretty vintage-inspired accessories from Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe‘s new collection, ‘Blush’. Perfectly complementing the warm tones of this season’s bridalwear, the tulle veils, chiffon floral headbands and pretty garters include subtle hints of blush pink, peach, and rose gold, and are adorned with ribbon, vintage lace, delicate pearls and intricate beadwork. There are ten headpieces and six veils in the new collection, most are interchangeable and can be worn with different hairstyles, with or without a veil and some as wrist corsages or sashes. We styled each piece in different ways to show its versatility, including with two beautiful long veils, one plain and one with a juliet cap, kindly loaned from beautiful boutique The White Closet in West Didsbury. (The White Closet also kindly loaned the dresses and the gorgeous chaise – thank you!). When it came to styling the pieces with dresses, Queen Ann’s Lace and Constance by Claire Pettibone were a perfect match with their whimsical, bohemian feel and warm tones. Alongside the whimsy, we had the gorgeous Gemma channelling a glam 1940s vibe in an ivory lace dress by the Vintage Wedding Dress Company with cowl front and back, and the lovely Louisa in a beautiful tulle gown with lace bolero; showcasing a more classic look. Louisa also brought along her own Lusan Mandongus wedding dress, and Gemma modelled Nicola’s (the lovely lady behind Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe) own beautiful slinky backless wedding dress. We chose to shoot the collection on location at Holmfirth Vineyard (yes, they make wine in Yorkshire!) which gave the images an organic, dreamy, natural feel, and with the gorgeous weather we had, you could be forgiven for thinking we were shooting in a sun-drenched vineyard in France or Italy ;) Hair and make-up was done by the fabulous Bethany Jane Davis, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create these truly stunning looks. So, two models, six dresses, five hairstyles, ten headpieces, six short veils, two long veils, one gorgeous bouquet and a very pretty pair of Rachel Simpson shoes later, the sun finally dipped behind the hills and we collapsed in a heap of happy exhaustion. Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe’s Blush collection is deliciously beautiful, versatile, perfectly on-trend and an absolute joy to photograph.

Isn’t this last combination of Claire Pettibone’s Constance, the Juliet veil and the Delphine headpiece – in the delicious light of the setting sun – a match made in heaven?

To see more pretty from Silver Sixpence in her Shoe or to purchase any of these beautiful pieces, please visit Nicola’s website and Etsy shop.

We were thrilled to have the featured recently on gorgeous wedding blog Love My Dress :)

A massive thank you to everyone involved in the shoot, for sharing your precious time and exceptional talents so generously, and to Holmfirth Vineyard for letting us take over for the day and looking after us so well. (They make rather lovely wine too!)
